A Game of thought, very nice name for a awesome photo. I found this interesting, and of course, a great message to the image.

Let's start about my first impression of it: A duel, a battle of inteligence, with a visual from the yound guy. I liked the idea of the Young vs the Old, something very impressive to see the new generations fighting agains the veterans, same with the artists this days, the new vs the old, a problem that has been from all around the history. I found it very striking. And of course: spectacular. The idea is there, very nice placed.

Originality, it has. I've seen some photos from "the back of" one person. But i found creative on this image the big chess scenarie. Not too usual. There are a lot of small boards, but with this big one, it puts it on a high level.

I like how the image look, focusing on the Young man and putting away the old one, (like he is thinking "This is my battle, i have to win, it's ... my fight).

And finally the impact, it make me think about a lot of things, specially ,since i've said before, the fight between the "new vs the old". The battle, that's what called most my attention. And made me to observe it.

It's a good photo indeed, impressive, with an effective idea and a great message to motivate our new generation of artists. Well, that's from my point of view sir. Anyways, congratulations for your DD. :)

This is a very interesting picture and I love how you made the board huge. The game is important and it does take a lot of concentration and smart to do it. And the young guy vs. the old guy amkes it interesting cuz old guys no how to play and the young people usually lose

For some reason, I really like the people in the background too.. Those guys on the bench must be having a darn good conversation, the one guy has his hands into it an everything :XD:
Ahh.. giant chess pieces.. reminds me of Cozumel... :)
Congratulations on the DD!! Sorry I don't really have anything constructive to say ^^;

This reminds me of Harry Potter, the first one(thats name escapes me at the moment) were Ron, Harry, and Hermione have to play the life sized wizard's chess. Except its not magic, life sized, and there is a stunning lack of adorible 11 year olds running around.

XD Sorry, this is amazing though! I like the angle particularly.

There used to be one at a small coffee shop in my hometown and i always wanted to play, though I was to little. Then Starbucks came around and bought it, and they got rid of it....-T_T....well, there is a really really nice tree now, its got an umbrella shape....still i wish it were still there....

I wish I could see the whole position <3
I'd say white is winning, however has a bad black-squared bishop
both sides haven't castled yet so white has the advantage of having the queen forward.
Other than that black seems to have more development.
I don't know about the material count but what I want to say is.....

big chess pieces are fun :D
Nice pic.

I don't know...White's Queen seems to be out in enemy territory without back-up, and that could prove risky...;P

From the position it doesn't seem under attack (the knight certainly isn't hitting it) plus it seems to be attacking black's bishop. The queen is definitely a fast enough mover and powerful enough to escape and attack at the same time.
True she would fare better with back-up though

They had a huge glass chess set at a mall in our town one time. I had to supress the urge to play with them. The only thing I did was move the white rook forward. :giggle:

*ahem* Anyway, congrats on the DD.

No, the rules of the game is that if someone thinks of the game, the rest of the discussion members are immune to the game.

1. Everyone is playing the game
2. Thinking of game makes you lose it
3. Upon losing, you must announce you did.

I see no rule of immunity here.

Woah. Those are some big chess pieces. I would hate it if some random person randomly took a pawn or something. "Hey give me back my pawn! I was going to win!"

Cool dof use, when I see chess being played, my mind almost always go to this little documentary movie, it dates back to 1982 but still interesting, the title , in french, 'JOUER sa VIE....PLAYING one's LIFE, is a lovely....although the actual translation is 'the great chess game', great behind the scene look.....typically not easy to find, sadly...
